01 · What we do
Display cases are commercial refrigeration's most demanding category.
When a commercial display case fogs, ices, or loses temperature, our techs at Same Day Appliance Repair trace it to one of three patterns first across LA grocery delis, bakery cases, and beverage merchandisers. (1) Glass-frame anti-condensation heater wire failure, the single most common display-case call, the heater embedded in the door frame open-circuits at year 5 to 8 and the glass front fogs so customers can't see product; replacement needs partial frame disassembly ($340 to $620). (2) Airflow and humidity, a condenser fan motor seized (self-contained, year 4 to 6 coastal, $280 to $500), an evaporator fan motor ($260 to $450), or a defrost cycle running long and sweating the product. (3) On remote-condensed cases, a refrigerant leak at a line-set brazed joint ($900 to $1,800 with EPA 608 leak repair before recharge), plus LED-harness corrosion at humid corners ($260 to $480) since the case is customer-facing. $120 commercial diagnostic, waived with repair. We service both self-contained and remote-condensed configurations (many shops decline remote line-set work), hold EPA 608 Universal certification across all refrigerants (R-22 through R-454B), and refer multiplexed multi-case rack systems to C-38 specialists.
Display cases are customer-facing. Glass doors must stay clear of fog, lighting must be flattering, temperature must hold without visible condensation, and the whole unit must look pristine while running 24/7 in retail environments. When a deli case fogs, customers walk past. When a bakery case ices over, the pastries ship to the trash.
Our techs service display cases across LA, Orange, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside. Two architectures: self-contained (compressor and condenser inside the case, typical for grocery aisle merchandisers, smaller deli cases, single-unit bakery displays) and remote-condensed (compressor and condenser mounted on the roof or in a back room, refrigerant lines run to the case, typical for larger restaurant deli setups, multi-case grocery installations).
Most appliance shops decline remote-condensed display cases because the line set work and roof access fall outside their training. We service both. EPA 608 Universal certified. BHGS #A49573. BBB Accredited. Phones answered 24/7. Parent context: commercial refrigeration repair.
Common brands we see: Hussmann (Panasonic-owned, dominant in LA grocery), Federal Industries (Wisconsin, dominant in deli and bakery cases), True TG-Series (Trulaske family), Howard McCray (Pennsylvania, premium deli and bakery), Beverage-Air (Ali Group, retail merchandisers), Hoshizaki Display (premium Japanese).
